My first exposure to self employment was in 1978. Since then I have spent 10’s of thousands of dollars on literally hundreds of opportunities that were promoted as promising. Although I never *really* succeeded in any one of them, I never gave up looking for something that fit my personality and skills.
In late 2003, Jeff Segal. asked me to help him build the infrastructure for FFPS. I agreed and also told him I would try the opportunity part of it out part time for 30 days. At that time I was on a full time contract with another company to provide their website management and technical support.
By the end of the first 30 days with FFPS, I felt that I had finally found a perfect fit, one that my wife, Linda and I could grow old with. I say perfect because Linda and I both have a heart for the homeless and help whenever we can with what we can do at the time. While learning the foreclosure industry through FFPS, I realized that many home owners who lose their homes become homeless. One day I asked Linda, “What better way to help the homeless than stopping it at one of the sources?”
We enjoyed the excitement when a home owner called us with the news that their foreclosure was stopped and they are on their way to financial recovery. That excitement reminded me of a young couple having their first child. Sure there were the financial rewards for us too, but that excitement was contagious, knowing we helped someone save their biggest investment and restored their lives.
Update: At the end of September, 2008 I resigned from my position as Webmaster for FFPS to focus on our new company, Short Sale Holdings. We now generate short sale leads and offer Short Sale Investor Training.
I also like writing articles as time permits, learning and teaching Internet Marketing. Rarely a day goes by that I have not read an article on Affiliate Marketing, generating more website traffic, how to design better lead capture and splash pages, or new methods of getting my website visitors to interact.
What really surprised me was one day I was helping Gladys Turner, an FFPS Consultant, with her website and general Internet Marketing, when out of nowhere she said, “Joel Comm, Perry Marshall and Jim Hutchinson have the best Internet Marketing training.” I just about fell out of my chair because I have long looked up to those two master marketers, just did not consider myself to be of their caliber.
